We've received many requests for a good digging kit...
we listened. The result is the Sierra Digging Kit.
We start out with a sturdy cordura fabric that stands
up to a heap of stretching and abuse and topstitched the
bottom seam for added reinforcement. We added two roomy
pockets that will hold just about anything. The front
one has a velcro closier to keep the "good stuff" separated
from the junk. It has two snug side slits that hold our
Coin Popper and Coin Probe (see Poppers & Probes)
and a nylon webbed sleeve on the side for a larger tool
of your choice, such as a trowel. Our Digging Pouch
is available separately, just as our Coin Popper

We designed the Coin Popper over fifteen years ago. It was
named by a White's dealer at one of our seminars in Anaheim,
CA. The name stuck and so did the unusual design. We have
sold thousands of them since that day from coast to coast.
In fact, in one California city it is the only tool other
than a screwdriver allowed for digging in the parks. This
tool has become legendary for easy retrieval of coins and
rings without the danger of damaging either the target or
the turf. The handles are available in two styles... a straight
hardwood and a "T" metal handle. A companion to
the Coin Popper is the Ball Tipped Coin Probe. This probe
can be used to pinpoint your target for proper removal with
the Popper or used alone for digging very shallow coins.
Both tools are fashioned from spring steel and defy breaking

The 'Lesche Digger' is built by the same master craftsman
who builds our 'foot assisted' digger, the 'Ground Shark'
and it was also designed with the needs of the metal detectorist
in mind. You have to hold it in your hand to appreciate
the 'feel.' Those of you who have used the Ground Shark

I took one to England with me on my last detecting tour
and used it every day. It was one of the best hand tools
I ever used. It is very lightweight, yet strong. It is
fabricated in the USA out of Crome-Moly Steel and is near

serrated edge cut through every root I encountered and

The Nugget Cup is made of heavy duty ABS
plastic and built to take a beating
I first saw a "nugget retrieval cup" used
in Quartszite, Arizona and was convinced after using
one myself, that is was thefastest and simplest way
to isolate
a tiny piece of gold that I had ever seen.The procedure
is similar to using a tray.
It has been a while but we finally have one of
our favorite accessories for gold prospecting back in
stock
Once you have localized the nugget in
a portion of soil, scoop it into the cup.Because gold
is heavier than soil, the nugget will fall to the bottom
of the cup when you shake it.Pour part of the dirt into
your hand and wave the cup over your detector loop.
If the nugget is still in the cup, toss out the dirt
in your hand and start again. Keep shaking and pouring
until youv'e got your gold!

Mag-Pick-Lightweight
For a number of years we've sold various picks with magnets
in the handle. However, many of you kept asking for a model
with a thicker handle to absorb the shock, but a lighter
head to cut down on the weight. I believe we have found
this in our Mag-Pick Lightweight. I have many hours of use
on my personal pick and I couldn't hunt without it. We have
heavier "picks" for beating apart bedrock, but there is
no substitute for our Mag-Pick for use in everyday prospecting.
It is just as useful while hunting in desert washes as when
scraping around an old hydraulic pit. The Mag-Pick Lightweight
has a traditional claw type head, which I prefer. The Picks
have a magnet in the butt end of the handle for chasing
after small pieces of rusted iron trash, which cause prospectors
no end of trouble.

Jimmy Sierra Nugget
Tray

Made of heavy duty ABS plastic, our nugget tray is designed
to help retrieve small gold flakes while prospecting with
a metal detector. The soil sample can be tested by the popular
separation procedure right on the tray. Locate the nugget
by passing the tray with the soil sample in it over your
detector loop. Then locate which side of the tray contains
the gold and wipe the empty portion clean. Shake the nugget
into the depression in the tray. Continue the process of
shaking, wiping and separating until you locate the nugget.
It is just sort of like dry panning. The tray stows easily
in the pocket of our Prospectors Pouch. It's easy to carry
and is a good alternative to the traditional pan.

cordura fabric as our Digging Pouch. We modified it by adding
a full length tube that holds the Mag-Pick Lightweight.
(see Mag-Picks). It will actually hold most any short handled
pick of your choice. It has two roomy pockets to hold your
personal equipment as well as room to carry away your trash
as well as your share of nuggets. The deepest pocket holds
our Sierra Nugget Tray (see Nugget Tray). All items can

Sierra Prospecting System

This system evolved by itself as I tried to customize my
standard Sierra Prospecting Kit to better fit my needs.
I have always preferred to carry my nugget cup in my pouch,
rather that hang it from various parts of my gear. This
called for a larger, deeper pouch and so my Deluxe Prospecting
Pouch came to be. It is stiffened inside with heavy mesh
side panels to keep it open. They also double as convenient,
small pockets to store your "nugget card" or a film canister
for carrying nuggets. The next step was finding a place
to hang my Mag-Pick. I didn't want to distort the shape
of my pouch by hanging the pick from the side, so I designed
a separate Pick Holster to hang from my belt. This way,
I could keep the pick on one side and the pouch on the other.
Pick not included in price. Both pouch and
holster are made from tough Cordura and stiffened with heavy
poly mesh where they need to be. I rounded out the system
with a polypropylene water bottle in a holster. The pouch
and pick holster come in either camo or tan (specify when
ordering). We recommend the Heavy Duty Cordura Belt to hang

Deluxe Coin Apron

I first conceived of the idea for my Deluxe Coin Apron on
our first trip detecting in England. It was born out of
necessity. Never had I dug so many targets in a given period
of time. Relics and pieces of relics of all sorts and ancient
and modern coins. There was a fair share of recognizable
trash, but much of the unidentifiable objects had to be
kept until the end of the day for verification by the experts.
I watched as my fellow hunters' pouches, mine as well, overflowed
from the brim. Every bend from the waist, as the day progressed,
deposited some part of our "treasures" on the ground. Then
it came to me' there was nothing in the construction of
my pouch to keep it from opening up like a teapot. That
is when I got the idea of a membrane divider sewn down the
middle of the pouch, dividing it into to compartments and
preventing it from dumping open. I took the idea to Steve
Blankenship of Desert Moon Products, who builds our cordura
items and Voila! The Deluxe Coin Apron became a reality.
We used the two large sections to divide the good trash
from the bad trash. The back panel is made of tough cordura
for strength and to help the apron hold its shape. The front
and sides are made from strong but lightweight nylon fabric.
The two deep, roomy pockets stay open so you can get your
hands inside or drop a large object in without fumbling
around. Nothing falls out when you bend over and it doesn't
feel big or bulky. I added a large outside pocket with full
zipper to stow special finds for safe keeping. It is even
large enough for wallet, keys or extra batteries. I call
it an "apron" because it has its own adjustable belt attached
with a strong nylon buckle.

Surf Apron

Our Surf Apron is designed for beach and water hunters.
The back panel and outside pocket are made out of the
same sturdy cordura fabric that we use in our digging
and prospecting pouches. The front panel, however, is
made from a tough mesh weave that filters out sand and
water and is secured to the back of the pouch with velcro
to form a "safe pocket". This apron can be worn in the
water and under the water, without the worry of losing
your finds. Nothing is worse than being hit by a wave
and having your pouch float up and dump all of your coins
and rings back into the drink. The Surf Apron fits comfortably
around your waist with its attached nylon webbed belt
and adjustable buckle.

Deluxe Relic Apron

The Deluxe Prospecting Pouch and the Deluxe Relic Apron
just sort of evolved from the Original Deluxe Digging
Apron which I designed for use on our detecting trips
to England and the need to increase the capacity of the
Original Prospecting Pouch. First of all, let me explain
how I differentiate a pouch from an apron. I designate
a pouch as a bag which is worn on your belt (it
has belt loops). I designate an apron as a bag
that has its own belt attached to it. I first designed
the Deluxe Prospecting Pouch by enlarging the size of
the very popular Deluxe Digging Apron and then removing
the belt and adding belt loops so that it could be worn
with our heavy duty belt and have the strength to carry
a pick and possibly a hip mounted detector. I did away
with the dividing membrane by adding web stiffening material
and internal pockets as well as an outside zipper pocket.
I can carry my nugget cup and nugget tray inside the pouch
with plenty of room to spare. The transition to a great
Deluxe Relic Apron was a natural. I added a tough web
belt and nylon buckle, two pockets inside (one mesh, one
cordura) and two heavy web stiffeners on either inside
(they double as pockets as well). Of course the zippered
pocket for goodies stayed on front. A web holder for a
pinpointer was added on one inside panel and a velcro
closed pocket was added to the other side (it holds an
XLT nicad).

Beach Hunting
Sand Baskets

We built our first "Shorty" with its 10" handle over
20 years ago from a design by Leo Bohling and it's
still in the line and our most popular model.
All of our baskets are made from heavy gauge welded
mesh steel. We found that the "mesh" design is far
superior to the "punched out hole" design in allowing
sand - even wet-packed sand - to filter through the
basket and retain the coins and rings
The cutting lip cap and bottom rim are brazed to the
handle and its strong cutting edge penetrates wet
sand.
We also make a "Convertible Twin" which sports interchangeable
handles, a 10" and a 28". .
The "big daddy" is the "Super-Pro" with welded supports
to allow foot pressure on the basket. It's fully braced
and has a 40" detachable handle designed for use in
the surf or wading lakes.
By popular demand we also make the Shorty and Super-Pro
in Stainless Steel. Since imitation is the best form
of compliment, we won't complain about "copy-cats",
but you better compare quality before you settle for
